1/2 c butter (1 stick)
1 c white sugar
2 eggs
1 t vanilla extract
1/3 c unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 c all-purpose flour
1/4 t salt
1/4 t baking powder
Preheat oven to 350 F (175 C). Grease and flour an 8-inch square pan. In a medium bowl, melt 1/2 cup butter in the microwave. When cool, whisk in the sugar and then the eggs and the vanilla. Beat in the cocoa, the flour, salt, and baking powder. Spread batter into prepared pan. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes. Do not overbake. Variation: Sprinkle 1/2 cup chocolate chips uniformly on top before baking.
